Newly Admitted Students

Welcome to UCI and the Program in Nursing Science. New students are required to attend an orientation program prior to fall quarter. The links listed below are here to assist you with your academic planning and provide you with a list of helpful resources that will familiarize you with the campus.

New Freshmen



Orientation

All new freshmen are required to attend an orientation program. Orientation includes academic advising, class registration and much more! After you have activated your UCInetID, you will be able to sign up for a Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP). The Nursing Science program will hold two orientation sessions for Fall 2008. SPOP dates for Nursing students are on July 12 and August 2. Please be sure to sign up for one of these dates.

To receive credit for your Advanced Placement, IB, or college level work please forward official scores to the Admissions office and provide the Nursing Science Program with copies of the test scores.

In order to receive credit for Advanced Placement, IB, or college-level work completed elsewhere, you must:

  1. Submit an official report for Advanced Placement (AP) examination scores (3 or above) and/or International Baccalaureate Higher Level (IB) (5 or above) examination results. To have AP scores sent to Admissions, call (609) 771-7300 or (888) 225-5427; use UC Irvine's ETS code (004859). Contact the International Baccalaureate Office at (212) 696-4464.
  2. By July 15, 2008, submit an official transcript of all college work completed. Transcripts of summer session 2008 courses must arrive no later than September 15, 2008.

Testing

Get your testing done early. Nursing Science majors need to complete a chemistry placement exam, and math analysis exam. All incoming freshman should take the Entry Level Writing Exam in early may. Testing should be completed prior to attending orientation. Transfer Students

Transfer students need to attend a transfer advising session with an academic counseling. To schedule an appointment, please contact Sandy Miller at smmiller@uci.edu or (949) 824-1514. Please bring a set of official transcripts from all colleges attended. Failure to provide copies to the counseling office can delay your enrollment.

Please submit final (official) copies of transcripts to the UC Irvine Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools as soon as possible. IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) must be completed before classes begin in the fall quarter. You are subject to UC Irvine Breadth (general education) requirements if IGETC is not complete.
