DEGREE REQUIREMENTS – CURRICULUM

The curriculum designed for the Baccalaureate in Nursing Science is based on two years of basic science study followed by two years of advanced nursing science courses. Nursing science courses include clinical practicum components that will be completed primarily at the UC Irvine Medical Center, where construction of a state-of-the-art facility is underway. In addition to completing the courses specific to the nursing science major listed below, students must complete UCI general education requirements in the following categories:
- Writing
- Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Humanistic Inquiry
- Mathematics and Symbolic Systems
- Language Other than English

Students gain essential clinical experience through practicum courses that accompany theory-based curriculum. The clinical preceptorship and scholarly concentration classes lend themselves to original research, giving students the opportunity to apply evidence-based practice to the healthcare environment.
